Welcome to the Division 1, District 9ER Web Site

   Division 1 is part of the Ninth Coast Guard District, which encompasses the Great Lakes and St. Lawrence River. The Ninth District is further divided into three Auxiliary Regions, and Division 1 is in the Eastern Region, covering the southern half of Lake Erie, and all of Lake Ontario and the St. Lawrence River. Division 1 itself extends from Sackets Harbor, NY to Massena, NY.

   Division 1 consists of four Flotillas: Flotilla 1-1 in Massena, NY, Flotilla 1-2 in Sackets Harbor, NY, Flotilla 1-5 in Ogdensburg, NY, and Flotilla 1-6 in Alexandria Bay, NY.

   Coast Guard units that we support include Coast Guard Station Alexandria Bay, Station Sackets Harbor, and Marine Safety Detachment Massena. These units are all part of Coast Guard Sector Buffalo. Activities that Division 1 units regularly engage in include safety patrols on the water, Search and Rescue operations, providing Boating Safety courses to the public, and performing courtesy vessel safety checks.
